Men of action?
The Gazette-
Montreal-11/25/2003
-
How do we know that a Trudeau action figure is inevitable?Well,a Montreal firm has already produced a Sir John A. Macdonald action figure in honour of Canada's first PM.It's 6" high, plastic, made in china and sells for $20.Sir John A. was a Tory, but the figure sold well at this month's Liberal Convention in Toronto, where Montreal--based Nafekh Technologies was selling the figure.Nafekh polled the Liberal faithful on who they'd like to see immortalized next;of couse Trudeau was near top of the list. Sir John A. Macdonald is the first in what Nafekh is calling its Canadian Legends line of figurines. You can move the plastic Sir John A's arms . (Given his drinking proactivities, what we really need to know is if you can bend its elbows.) We trust the day is near when we can look forward to the Brian Mulroney action figure; push the button and it sings Irish songs. A Joe Clark action figure would have to have the Clarkian chortle down pat. A René Levesque action figure would have to be adorned with a Player's Light regular. An Alfonso Gagliano doll would definitely fling money around. But the best in such a line would be Paul Martin. Push the button and he does everything everybody wants.
